ABOUT US

The Red Cedar Advocacy Centre aims to reduce barriers to justice by offering legal services on a free or pay-what-you-can basis to low-income community members, Indigenous peoples, people of colour and other people from equity-seeking groups. RCAC and it’s Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program are operated by the Red Cedar Community Association, a registered non-profit society based in Lekwungen Territory (“Victoria, BC”).

ECOLOGICAL JUSTICE

Standing up for people and the planet is a core pillar of the work we do at Red Cedar. Part of our work involves environmental advocacy alongside legal work for climate justice and ecological stewardship, and the intersection of both with Indigenous rights to self-determination, human rights, and the right of all in Canada to participate in peaceful demonstration.

COMMUNITY

While still in development, one of the goals of the Red Cedar Advocacy Centre is to coordinate a variety of community programs by and for neighbours. One of the programs currently in progress is the Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program, funded in part by the City of Victoria. Programs like these help to support our community through the development of mutual-aid skills and build neighbourhood resiliency and togetherness.

LEGAL SUPPORT

We provide free and pay-what-you-can legal services for low-income community members, seniors, youth, Indigenous peoples, people of colour, and people from other equity-seeking groups. The Centre works to address systemic issues while building togetherness in the community and neighbourhood resilience, through community-based programs.

The Red Cedar Advocacy Centre is grounded in the core belief that access to justice should not be barriered.

Our Partners

The Red Cedar Advocacy Centre would like to recognize our loyal friends in community partnership who go above and beyond to support us and collaborate with us. Continued support, big or small, makes a long-lasting impact in the work we do.

Thank you,
