Programs and Services
We are regularly expanding our programs and services to best support our community. This is a general scope of our legal services and programming currently being offered:
Legal Services
Legal services are offered in the following areas:
- Human Rights
- Housing / RTA
- Worker Rights
- Environmental Stewardship
- Indigenous Rights
Indigenous Access to Justice Program
Our Indigenous Access to Justice Program supports Indigenous community members, land defenders, and grassroots organizers navigating legal systems and barriers to justice. This work includes advocacy support, legal referrals, court support, research assistance, and solidarity with Indigenous-led movements protecting land, water, and Indigenous sovereignty, including old growth and environmental defense initiatives across Vancouver Island and British Columbia.
Community Conflict Mediation
The Community Conflict Mediation Services program supports individuals, neighbours, organizations, and community groups in navigating conflict through mediation, facilitated dialogue, and conflict coaching. This work focuses on creating accessible, community based approaches to conflict resolution that support respectful communication, relationship building, and collaborative problem solving.
The program is grounded in the understanding that conflict, when engaged with constructively and with care, can create opportunities for greater understanding, stronger relationships, and more resilient communities.
Neighbours Helping Neighbours
The Neighbours Helping Neighbours program is a grassroots, volunteer-driven initiative that aims to serve and empower seniors, youth, Indigenous peoples and people of colour in the Hillside-Quadra neighbourhood. Securing access to justice can be overwhelming. Having peer-to-peer coaching and mentorship can make the process of navigating these complicated systems easier, and more personal.
Accessing this support through the Neighbours Helping Neighbours program gives community members guidance on next steps, solutions as well as the opportunity to build new skills and the empowerment, agency, and ability to provide the same to other neighbours. This regenerative process strengthens community resiliency and togetherness.
